Along with sharing our detailed 5-day itinerary, I'll also provide valuable tips on staying connected with WiFi and getting around efficiently.

I. 5-Day, 4-Night Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and beach relaxation
Phuket's beaches are incredible! From the bustling shores of Patong to the calmer vibes of Kata and Bang Tao, there's something for everyone. Our resort was conveniently located near Bang Tao Beach, so after our arrival in the late afternoon, we took a walk on the soft sand and enjoyed some local food while watching the sunset. It was a great way to unwind after the journey.
Just a heads up - if you're looking to explore more of Phuket and not just relax on the beach, Patong might be a better choice. It's more central and easier to get around from there.
Here's a handy map of Phuket showcasing its popular attractions (link to map). As you can see, Patong is conveniently situated near many points of interest. When creating your itinerary, consider grouping destinations geographically to save time and travel costs. This way, you can maximize your time experiencing all that Phuket offers!
Day 2: Phuket Old Town exploration and night market
Early Morning:
We start our day with an early morning beach stroll and a refreshing swim at Bang Tao Beach.
Late morning to afternoon:
Explore Phuket Old Town, a historic district renowned for its charming Sino-Portuguese architecture, colorful buildings, and rich cultural heritage. Wander through streets like Thalang Road, Soi Rommanee, and Dibuk Road, which are lined with unique shops, cafes, and galleries.
Discover unique souvenirs such as handcrafted items like wooden carvings, batik textiles, traditional Thai masks, and local artwork. Don't miss exploring clothing boutiques offering unique designs and fabrics.
Visit notable landmarks such as the Hai Leng Ong Statue (Golden Dragon Monument) and the Clock Tower for photo opportunities. The Hai Leng Ong statue holds cultural significance as a symbol of protection and prosperity in Phuket. The Clock Tower, located at the intersection of Rasada Road and Phuket Road, is a historic landmark that chimes every hour. It's a popular meeting point for locals and tourists alike, offering a glimpse into Phuket's rich heritage.
Evening:
Phuket Weekend Night Market: If you come to Phuket on the weekend, you definitely cannot miss the Phuket weekend night market (Naka market) on Chao Fa West street with all the shopping and dining options. But if you unfortunately travel to Phuket in the middle of the week, don't worry! You can still enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Phuket Indy night market. Located right in the heart of Phuket Old Town, Phuket Indy Night Market offers an interesting combination of local handicrafts, fashionable clothes, attractive street food and unique entertainment performances every day. evening.
Day 3: Phi Phi Island Excursion
Full Day:
Embark on a day trip to Phi Phi Islands, one of the most famous island destinations in the world. With its breathtaking scenery, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear waters, Phi Phi Island has gained global recognition and is a must-visit for travelers seeking paradise.
Enjoy activities such as snorkeling, swimming, and relaxation on the pristine beaches of Maya Bay and Monkey Beach.
Take in the stunning natural scenery, including towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters.
In general, lunch will be provided as part of the island-hopping tour.
Return to Phuket in the late afternoon or early evening for some rest and relaxation.

Day 4: Shopping, Sightseeing, and Sunset
Morning to afternoon:
My family spends the morning shopping at Jungceylon shopping center in Patong, Phuket's largest shopping complex with countless stores, from affordable to high-end, with a wide selection of clothes, accessories, electronics, souvenirs... My family also takes the opportunity to enjoy the Delicious food at the food court in the shopping mall.
After shopping, the whole family took a leisurely walk Bazaan Fresh Market agricultural market near. This market is famous for its variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and colorful local dishes. My family bought a lot of fruit to take back to the hotel to eat gradually.
Evening:
End the day with a visit to Promthep Cape, a scenic viewpoint offering panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and the surrounding coastline. Enjoy the stunning sunset, creating a memorable conclusion to your trip to Phuket.
Thinking of adding some cultural highlights to your trip?
On your way to Promthep Cape, you'll pass by two iconic landmarks: the Big Buddha and Wat Chalong.
- The Big Buddha is a majestic statue offering stunning panoramic views of Phuket. It's a symbol of peace and spirituality, and a great place for some reflection. (Distance: ~25 km from Old Town)
- Wat Chalong is a revered Buddhist temple known for its beautiful architecture and cultural significance. It's definitely worth a visit if you're interested in experiencing local culture. (Distance: ~10 km from the Big Buddha)

- Time for the sunset: Make sure you factor in travel time so you don't miss the breathtaking sunset at Promthep Cape.
- Family-friendly: Consider if these stops are suitable for everyone in your group, especially if you have young children or older family members.
The choice is yours! Both locations offer unique experiences, so pick what interests you most and fits your schedule.
Day 5: Relaxation and Departure
We spend our last day relaxing, swimming, and having fun before our departure in the afternoon.
II. Navigating Phuket: The secret to a smooth journey
Wifi & data
In my experience, WiFi is widely available in various cafes, restaurants, and accommodations all around Phuket. You'll also stumble upon additional free hotspots on the streets, although they typically require some personal information for access, such as email, phone number, or ID. While the registration process wasn't always straightforward, I managed to provide some fabricated information to get connected. However, I found that opting for a SIM card was a more reliable option. Thai SIM cards, starting at 299 baht, usually come with at least 1GB of data per day for 7-8 days, ensuring consistent connectivity.
Alternatively, if you have a Revolut account, you can explore the eSIM option through Revolut, priced at 3.5 pounds for 1GB over 7 days. I was particularly intrigued by this new feature and decided to give it a try! For our needs, 1 GB over 5 days was sufficient, as we primarily used data for navigation, with complimentary WiFi readily available throughout Phuket.
Getting around
When it comes to getting around Phuket, I can't recommend InDrive enough. My family and I have relied on this app countless times during our trips, and it has consistently saved us a significant amount of money. Compared to the steep prices of traditional taxis and other ride-hailing apps like Grab, InDrive offers fares that are 2-3 times cheaper. It's been a game-changer for us, allowing us to stretch our budget further while still enjoying all that Phuket has to offer.
Whether you're a local or a traveler, you can easily register with either your Thai phone number or your own country's phone number.
We've found the “private car S” option to be the most cost-effective, especially for a group of four like ours.
While our five days in Phuket seemed to disappear in the blink of an eye, the island has left an undeniably positive and lasting impression.
